Perfect Homemade Pie Crust

This Perfect Homemade Pie Crust recipe is one of our favorites. It makes a tender flaky crust. You simply combine 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt, then cut in 9 tablespoons cold butter. Gently add 4 tablespoons ice water. Mix just until combined. Shape into flat disc. Roll out to desired pie plate size or wrap in plastic and chill until use. Once dough is pressed into pie plate, prick bottom with fork to help prevent bubbling.

Perfect Homemade Pie Crust:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

9 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 tablespoons ice water

 

Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter. Combine just until mixture resembles oatmeal. Add ice water and combine just until the mixture begins to come together. Transfer to a lightly floured surface and gather it into a ball with your hands. Gently flatten into a smooth dish about 1 1/2 inches thick and wrap in plastic. Refrigerate at least 1 hour. Roll dough on a lightly floured surface and into a round about 1/8-inch thick. Press into pie plate.
